An Update

Actually I shouldn't call this an update as there isn't much to update on, but I think it helps to write it down. At this point the main thing holding our process up is our homestudy . I got an email both from our social worker as well as our international agency stating that the homestudy looks good and our international agency will accept it as soon as it is notarized. Here I am thinking- "ok" so Alan and I go downtown, sign it and overnight it to WACAP, Ta Da! All done!" Here we are still waiting, a week later... In terms of what we have been doing- I overnighted 10 documents to their final Authentication at the Chinese Consulate in NYC- I should have them back in about 2 weeks. I also overnighted 1 document to the Chinese Consulate in DC (I was born out of NY state so my birth certificate has to go through a different consulate). All in all these documents have been notarized, authenticated at the county level, authenticated at the state level and now at the embassy. I imagine they will look pretty fancy when we are done with them. then we overnight them to our agency and they sit there until the 1800A approval gets in. At least I feel like we have done everything we can do ourselves. I will call our Social Worker on monday to set up a day and time to come downtown to sign the homestudy- then I'll see if I can take it and overnight it to WACAP.
So, there it is....Poor Alan I know he must be so sick of me stressing about this...but until all our documents are logged in IN CHINA and ON TIME nothing is for sure.
The good news is that after our homestudy is with our agency we can send a care package to Noah! I can also then start applying for adoption grants-
More good news, I did see on one of the Yahoo groups I'm on that the wait from your Log in date (in china) to your letter of acceptance (THIS IS THE BIG ONE!) seems to be taking less time than it was in the past.
I am hoping that the next post about our journey to Noah will have some big news, maybe a new photo??
In the meantime I am going to try to download some Christmas pictures (about a month late) and some updates the holidays.
