Happy Father's Day!

Before I comment on what we did today, let me just explain a bit about the type of dad that Alan is. Alan had very little exposure to babies prior to us having Ephram. He always told me he didnt want kids until he could live his life for his kids and not himself. That is exactly what he does! I really cant imagine Alan being a better father. He is extremly hands on and because of his job, during the school year gets to stay home with the kids every thursday while I work. In the summer he stays home with them 2-3 days per week since he is off and we cut down on daycare. I dont know many Dads who get to spend the amount of quality time with our kids that he does. He has more patience than I could ever hope for and now that he has a daughter I'm pretty sure he could win a Disney Princess trivia contest without breaking a sweat. There is nothing more heartwarming to me then when he is upstairs reading to the kids and I hear him doing all voices, right down to the part of the evil stepmother in Snow White. Alan lives for our kids and they worship him! For some with very little experience with kids he walked right into the roll as if he had been doing it all his life! Our kids are so lucky to have such a wonderful father and I am so lucky to have a true partner in parenting!
So, about Father's day..
As you can see from the above photos, our father's day started out with a race. Every year Alan runs the MEDVED run for ALS in downtown Rochester. The cool part of the race is that you finish in the baseball stadium. After the race is a kids race. Unfortunately the day did not start out as planned- everyone running late, and the kids in...."challenging" moods. Both kids did run the race, Frances got a little confused by what was happening during her age group race and Ephram got a late start but they both finished! As you can see in the photo of the three of them, Frances really was paying closer attention to Spike the mascot than anything else. We then tried to redeem Father's day with a nice brunch...again the kids were not in the best moods (this of all days)! Needless to say I think we will need a do-over! Alan definately deserves it!
