Finally we are moving ahead! I just got an email from Linda at WACAP that our Dossier (that huge packet of information that has been gathered, notorized, verified, authenticated which also now includes our homestudy and our 1800A approval) was sent to China today! What does this mean? Well not much actually but it is another clue that things are moving along.
What's next? We wait for our Log in Date (LID) which is when the countdown officially begins for the big Letter Seeking Confirmation (China approves us to adopt Noah). It has been taking approx 3-4 weeks to get the log in date and approx 2-4 months for the letter seeking confirmation. Thats not quite the end of things unfortunately but close enough!
Some people have been asking us why this adoption is taking so long...actually it is not taking any longer than our adoption with Ephram. From our first application to meeting Ephram took about 15 months. It was about 6 months into that adoption that our dossier was sent to Ethiopia (and there was much less involved). Here we are adopting again, it has been about 6 months and our dossier is in China. I think why it might seem like longer is that we didnt know about Ephram until 9 months into the process (For ethiopia you cant be referred a child until your dossier is in Ethiopia). We found out about Noah almost immediately (Noah is considered a special needs adoption and that referral process is much different). I'll admit it is MUCH harder this way having a photo and knowing who your son is for so long without being able to meet him but it sure was motivating to get our paperwork done as soon as possible!
I hope that explains it better for those of you who were wondering....
Hopefully we'll get an early LID so we can start waiting for the big one!
