We've gotten a lot of really great family time in this summer with Alan being off work and me only working part time. In an attempt to have some fun and also save money by doing some local stuff, we've taken the kids to two county fairs. One, a very tiny fair that actually was more like a carnival and another a huge county fair that could rival the New York State Fair. The kids love the animals, especially Frances and the food (nothing like cotton candy at 10:30am!) We usually don't do all the rides, but we were checking out the kiddie rides and Frances spied a very large Ferris wheel, or as she stated "spinning wheel" (everything relates back to "sleeping beauty" these days). Initially Alan said "sure" then we saw the price of tickets...it was going to cost us $16 for the 4 of us to go on! $16 dollars!!! So Alan started to tell Frances that we couldn't go on it today and she cried. It was not an an "I want it" tantrum cry, but a heartbreaking and very genuinely sad cry. So, needless to say we all enjoyed our 5 minute $16 dollar Ferris wheel ride, especially when we got in the air and Ephram said it was too high and wanted to know when it would be over, and Frances wanted "all done" about 1/2 way through. But you know, at the end of the day they told us it was one of their favorite things..go figure! It was hot, there were no naps and yet we think it was pretty successful! This weekend is the big one...the New York State Fair...I'm sure we'll take lots of photos, I'm sure they will look a lot like the ones on this post and I'm sure that it will take me forever to post them but we can't wait! Ephram is now actually asking us every weekend "are we going to another festival today? (we've been to a lot of those too!)" Enjoy the photos!
