Well in one hour we meet Noah Zhen Xing. Alan is napping, I cant possibly sleep! We ended up moving to another room since we were supposed to be in a room with a big bed. It's much bigger and has a separate seating area that we can use to play, also there is nobody else on our floor so we can play ball with him in the hallway and let him tear around a bit.
We met the other couple from our agency today at breakfast, I have been emailing Angie back and forth since last winter so it was nice to meet them. Her husband commented that this building of the hotel feels like The Shining...I agree.. with the hallways so empty and the building being built in the 50s, it is a bit creepy! We found a wall downstairs with photos of people staying in this building of the hotel, many diplomats including Chairman Mao. Very interesting!
Breakfast was fine- it's included in our rate and you can pick some western items to order such as eggs, toast and also there is a buffet with all sorts of thing. Alan had this really yummy chicken sausage/cabbage dish that tasted like bacon. I had some congee which I really liked. There should be lots of food for Noah to eat there.
We just got back from the grocery store across the street. Alan likes to try kit kat's from all the countries since they are supposed to taste different everywhere you go. We also stocked up on some coke, pringles...the flavors we couldnt believe- shrimp, seaweed, crab, Lychee, kiwi, mango, blueberry pringles! We just got sour cream and onion as wanted some comfort food. Also picked up some interesting items to take home to my dad to try....I cant wait for that!
We wanted to get Noah some milk but cant figure out what is regular milk, there are some liquid yogarts etc and cant tell what is what. Tomorrow our guide will take us shopping and help us with it.
So, at 3:30pm we meet Noah, there will be lots of other families there Jane our guide told us, afterwards we are going to a restaurant with her and the other family from our agency and their little boy (also named noah) and she will order some food for us and the kids, she said the kids will feel comfortable there b/c there are so many chinese people there and some familiar foods.
Not sure what to expect now. We are definately praying that this goes well and will just have to wait and see when the grieving kicks in. Jane said sometimes it takes a couple days and that the evenings are the hardest on the kids.
Well, that's all for now. I hope this isnt too boring but I want to post on what we are experiencing and use it like a journal for the trip.
Any comments you want to send us, send to my email address at jpetersot@yahoo.com as we cant see our blog
